Tatuaje RC Series No. 2 Cigar

Retro Cuba, polished and aromatic

The RC Series is Tatuaje’s quiet tribute to the golden age of Cuban craft, built with modern precision and released with the international smoker in mind. “RC” stands for Retro Cuba, and in the No. 2 you get that intention in a format that feels composed, deliberate, and deeply enjoyable over an unhurried 50 minutes.

Rolled at My Father Cigars in Estelí under the guidance of Pete Johnson and Don Pepin Garcia, this cigar pairs an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder and filler. The result is medium-to-medium-full in feel, but always refined in delivery.

Expect a clean opening of wood and toasted almonds, lifted by a soft caramel sweetness. Through the middle, the profile becomes more structured and woody, with cedar on the retrohale and a faint fruit-like sweetness that comes and goes. In the final third, roasted nut notes deepen and the sweetness turns darker, edging toward molasses, with a touch of earth and gentle spice to round the finish.

A classic-leaning cigar with real finesse. Aromatic, balanced, and quietly complex.

Sommelier review (RC Series No. 2)
Appearance: Darker, rosier Habano wrapper with a natural oil sheen. Firm pack, well-finished head.
Cold aroma: Cedar humidor, roasted nuts, a touch of cocoa skin.

Cold draw: Toasted almond, dry cedar, faint caramel sweetness.

First third
Opens polished and aromatic. The core is wood-forward, with toasted almond and a light, glossy caramel note that sits more on the finish than the centre palate. Retrohale gives soft cedar and a gentle pepper tickle, more warmth than bite.

Second third
The profile tightens and becomes more structured. Cedar and clean wood lead, with the nut character smoothing out into something closer to almond cream. A faint dried fruit sweetness (subtle, almost cherry skin) appears intermittently, giving lift and complexity. Strength edges towards medium-full, but the cigar stays composed.

Final third
The wood deepens into a darker roasted register (bread crust, nut skin). Sweetness shifts from caramel to a molasses-like tone, with a touch more earth and a soft spice on the retrohale. Finish is long, warm, and balanced, with no harshness if you keep the pace steady.

Body: Medium
Strength: Medium–Full
Texture: Rounded, slightly oily smoke, “classic” mouthfeel
Finish: Cedar, roasted nut, dark sweetness, gentle spice
Best moment: Mid-second third, when cedar + almond + caramel line up cleanly.
